A
new anti-graffiti system now commercially available has been
used to safely remove stubborn graffiti and apply a non sacrificial
wateproofing/anti-graffiti coating from the landmark headquarters
building of the National Audubon Society on Broadway in New
York City.
The
graffiti was removed from the Society building's exterior
facade, which is classic (and porous) "New York Brownstone"
and mixture of brick, sandstone, and terracotta using PEEL
AWAY 7 and the RECYCLEAN power washing/vacuum equipment. The
new coating applied to the building was Dumond Anti Graffitiant.
Dumond
Anti Graffitiant is a graffiti inhibitor that has all the
characteristics of a penetrating weather proofing material
and is prepared by using Silicone Rubber which has a high
perm rate which allows moisture vapor to escape while preventing
liquids or graffiti to enter the substrate.
Dumond
Anti Graffitiant has been on the Audubon Building for 5 years
without needing recoating, even though the building has been
hit by graffiti many times over the years.
